Women's Health Victoria

WOMEN’S HEALTH VICTORIA

Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) is a statewide women’s health promotion, advocacy and support service with a proud history of over 25 years. We are an independent, feminist, not-for-profit organisation. We advocate and build system capacity for a gendered approach to health that reduces inequalities and improves health outcomes for women.

Counterpart, as a service of WHV connects, supports and informs Victorian women with cancer to live well, as they define it. Utilising the lived experiences of other women with cancer, we provide practical and emotional support and information to women from cancer diagnosis onwards.

About the role

Part time 0.4EFT – 30.4 hours per fortnight. Permanent/on-going.

  • Key role to oversee operations of the Counterpart Resource Centre as part of a team to facilitate the provision of support and information to women experiencing cancer.
  • Nurture and support the commitment and skills of Peer Support volunteers to speak with other women experiencing cancer.

We are seeking a values driven, emotionally resilient and caring professional with a strong commitment to peer support, empowering women in health care and an organised approach to systems.

Your approach

You are a team orientated person who naturally inspires confidence and openness in all you meet. You encourage effective communication in your everyday work and can listen with integrity and compassion.

As one of our Resource Centre Coordinators you will operate within a supportive and structured environment and will need to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of volunteers and ways of working that respect and incorporate them into supporting women with cancer
  • Demonstrate understanding of the effects of cancer on a diversity of women’s lives across all life stages
  • Have advanced interpersonal, relationship and networking skills
  • Be highly organised and familiar with systems of data management, spreadsheets and online communication tools.
