In 2020-21 Victoria committed to establishing a network of Jobs Victoria Advocates in local communities, as part of the Government’s response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jobs Victoria Advocates will provide a range of tailored supports to jobseekers in the local community and more specifically in Epping, Lalor, Thomastown and Mernda. Advocates will help people who need help finding work or who are struggling with the impact of unemployment, to find the information, advice and additional support they need to navigate employment and training services. Advocates will hold specialist knowledge about the employment and training systems, while also understanding that people dealing with unemployment will sometimes need other support. Advocates will be able to guide people on where to seek this additional help playing an important system navigation role in Whittlesea.
