Position Rationale

This is a new position established to support targeted community information to raise awareness of family violence, women’s rights and support services relevant to culturally and linguistically diverse communities living in the City of Whittlesea. This position will support WCC’s broader efforts around gender equity and prevention of family violence.

Key SelectioCriteria ‐ Essential

  • Qualification or equivalent experience in administration, customer service or community services
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • High standard of interpersonal skills including effective communication, verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude to working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated capacity for resourcefulness, with an ability to manage difficult conversations with people experiencing hardship.

Key Selection criteria ‐ Desirable

  • Experience in a call centre or customer service type environment
  • Ability to speak a language other than English (Farsi, Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Urdu, Nepali etc.)
  • Experience working or volunteering in a community-based setting or community organisation
  • Knowledge of local area (Whittlesea LGA)
