Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is a place based community agency that strives for the empowerment of individuals and groups within the local community who face disadvantage, isolation and obstacles to effective social and economic participation. POSITION RATIONALE:

WCC has a growing number of community based projects that focus on prevention, early intervention and capacity building of community groups. The Community Primary Prevention Projects Coordinator role is responsible for the delivery of two of these community projects; Multicultural COVID-19 Family Violence Program and CALD Women’s group grants. The Multicultural COVID-19 Family Violence Program is a primary prevention project that aims to build the knowledge and capability of CALD communities and groups within the LGA in early intervention and prevention of Family Violence. Funding period of this project is from June 2020 to September 2022. The CALD Women’s group grants program supports women from diverse community in establishing their community groups building on women’s leadership and empowerment within the community.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in project management, community development, social work or in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of intersectional feminism and anti-oppressive practice
  • Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring primary prevention of family violence and violence against women initiatives and policy, within and across various settings.
  • Experience in building the skills and capacities of people in diverse sectors and settings (eg sports clubs, schools, workplaces, local government, health services) to embed prevention of family violence and gender equality efforts into existing work practices.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including effective communication, negotiation, verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Good relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of key partners, stakeholders, community groups and organisations.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural settings and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity, access and community participation.
  • Demonstrated capacity for resourcefulness and self-motivation and an ability to manage competing and complex work priorities.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Conditions will be in accordance with the Social, Community, Home and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010, Level 5, pay point to be determined based on experience.
  • This position is offered as a 4 day a week position (30.4 hours/week).
  • This is a fixed‐term contract for just over 12 months from appointment.
  • An above award salary plus super and leave loading, is offered. Generous salary sacrifice arrangements, if taken up by the employee, can significantly increase the net value of the remuneration received.
