Wheatbelt Community Legal Centre

Wheatbelt Community Legal Centre is a not-for-profit, independent centre that provides legal advice, representation and advocacy for disadvantaged members of the community. We are looking to employ a solicitor (eligible to hold a practising certificate in Western Australia) to work in all areas of our service for a fixed term - either part time 4 days per week or full time. Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Salary and Conditions

  • Part-time position (4 days per week 30 hours per week) or full-time position (5 days per week 37.5 hours per week) until 30 June 2020. Extension of employment will be dependent on funding.
  • Pro-rata of full-time rate range between $90-$115,000.00, commensurate with experience.
  • Salary and conditions as per Federal award Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
  • Employment subject to 3-month probation.

Essential Criteria

  1. Hold an unrestricted legal practice certificate in Western Australia.
  2. Demonstrated 4 + years’ experience in the provision of all aspects of legal service delivery including representation, casework and advice in community-based areas of law, specifically the areas of family law, family violence and child protection.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with clients and other persons from diverse backgrounds and who are dealing with a broad range of social and legal issues.
  4. Experience in working collaboratively and effectively within a small team environment as well as with other community service providers,
  5. Excellent organisational skills, including both time management and file management.
  6. Proficiency in the use of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) to a legal practice and the capacity to quickly acquire competency in the use of Wheatbelt CLC’s client database;
  7. Current driver’s licence (class c)
