Wildlife Health Australia (WHA) is the coordinating body for wildlife health in Australia, and initially began as a national initiative of the Australian Government in 2002.* The head office is located in Sydney, NSW, but remote arrangements will be considered for the successful applicant.
WHA works with a network of government and private stakeholders across Australia to develop strong partnerships in order to better manage the adverse effects of wildlife diseases on Australia’s animal health industries, human health, biodiversity, trade and tourism. WHA participates in surveillance, investigation, monitoring, research and recording of wildlife disease events. WHA helps protect Australia's trade, human health, biodiversity and tourism.
WHA is seeking a motivated Program Manager – One Health Surveillance and Wildlife Collaborating Centre for Australia and the Indo-Pacific to join our team on a fixed term, full-time basis (38 hours per week, 2-year contract). The Program Manager will be tasked with establishing WHA as an official World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) Collaborating Centre for Australia and the Pacific.
We are looking for someone with experience in managing complex projects, team management skills and knowledge of Australia’s biosecurity and animal health systems, plus working knowledge of international policy and frameworks. They must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as experience in capacity building.
The candidate will be able to build and maintain collaborative partnerships and be committed to leading the WHA Wildlife Collaborating Centre for Australia and the Indo-Pacific program.
