The Business Development Manager for West Welcome Wagon (WWW) reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for leading and managing the WWW Business Development function to develop and maintain important campaigns and fundraising activities to further the work and exposure of WWW.

This is a volunteer position. Work will generally be done from the volunteer’s own home and at times to suit the volunteer, however the volunteer will be required to attend regular management meetings (approx 2 hours per month) and community events (2-3 days per year)

It is expected that this volunteer role requires a total time commitment of approximately 8 hours per week.

Key Tasks and Activities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Business Development strategy to manage and promote WWW’s work in the wider community
  • Oversee the promotion of WWW drives, events, crowd-funding campaigns and sponsorships to grow WWW’s supporter base
  • Oversee and work closely with a team of grant writers
  • Work closely with the other departments of WWW to ensure consistency across campaigns and activities, with particular focus on the Media and Communications Team
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships among local businesses and the community to support BD campaigns
  • Lead a team of volunteers to deliver high quality outcomes across the full range of WWW Business Development activities

Selection Criteria:

  • Prior experience working within a community sector or not-for-profit Business Development role (with management experience an advantage)
  • Strong interpersonal communication, networking and influencing skills, including an ability to form valuable community and corporate partnerships
  • Strategic and operational planning experience, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Facebook and Google Drive literacy, including an ability to effectively manage a team in an online environment

West Welcome Wagon will provide:

  • Ongoing support from the CEO and Board, members of the Business Development team and the CORE group of volunteers.
  • A small budget will be available to use for Business Development needs, with the understanding that any expenditure must be budgeted for and expenditure reports prepared for the CEO and Board as required
  • Volunteer experience with a grass-roots asylum seeker support organisation
  • Regular social events with the team of WWW volunteers
