The Program

The North West Melbourne Pharmacotherapy Network is one of five area-based Pharmacotherapy Networks in Victoria Led by cohealth in partnership with Western Health, North Western Melbourne PHN, Eastern Melbourne PHN, and Harm Reduction Victoria. The program covers 14 local government areas in Melbourne's northwest (430 pharmacies, 3000+ general practitioners) It Aims to strengthen the Victorian pharmacotherapy system and workforce by supporting new and existing general practitioners and pharmacists to treat people with opioid dependence and provides access to Addiction Medicine Specialist services.

The role:

  • This role provides high-level strategic leadership in the area of pharmacotherapy treatment and prevention of opioid dependence
  • Supervises a small team of general practitioners using a peer-based mentoring approach to strengthen the local workforce
  • The position oversees the development, implementation, and review of annual action plans and bi-annual reports to the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services
  • Works across the primary health care and AOD sector to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for opioid-dependent patients in the community.
  • Site management responsibilities for cohealth Braybrook, involves liaising with Council, providing leadership working across multiple programs based at Braybrook, business continuity planning, administration and internal collaboration with cohealth leaders to ensure seamless service delivery, quality and safety, and client satisfaction

What you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health-related field such as Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Promotion
  • Significant and successful experience in program management including leading, developing and implementing successful public health initiatives
  • Sound knowledge and working experience of current legislation, policies, and frameworks relevant to pharmacotherapy and the AOD system
  • Demonstrated understanding of alcohol and other drugs as a public health issue and principles of harm reduction
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills; with the ability to produce high-quality reports
  • Experience in a leadership role with demonstrated ability and experience in developing and managing a team of health professionals

This position will be paid under the Victorian Stand-Alone Community Health Services (Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Officers) Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2011-2015, level 6
