About the role

This is an outward and inward facing role that requires effective communication across varied stakeholders including workshop participants, artist facilitators, parents and carers, staff, venues, potential partners and program funders. Their work supports Arts Gen's meaningful reach, including program design, promotion, marketing, evaluation and engagement of community members.

They support the development and implementation of Arts Gen workshop programs through undertaking community and stakeholder engagement (and documentation of this), regular liaison with and support to community artists, including providing training and skill development and facilitating reporting and acquittal.

Your daily duties will vary but will include:

  • Project manage and support the planning, development, implementation, budgeting, evaluation, reporting and promotion of Arts Gen creative workshop programs, approaching all initiatives with an anti-racist, strengths-based, capacity building and health promoting lens.
  • Coordinate the creative workshops program including managing the budget, contracting artists and facilitators, coordinating venue hire, and reporting and acquittals.
  • Maintain systems that document the workshop program and collect regular data for funders to meet reporting requirements.
  • Support the active engagement of new participants into workshop program through actively reaching out to new and potential participants, schools and community groups through the creation of materials and use of multi-media platforms.
  • Provide support to community artists involved in Arts Gen art workshop programs, including providing training and skill development in project management, administration, grant reporting and/or other areas of expertise.

What we're looking for:

  • Appropriate tertiary degree in a relevant field (arts, community cultural development, social work, health promotion, arts management, events management or education or similar), or at least 3 years' experience in a similar community arts role with a specific focus on teaching and supporting artists.
  • Experienced in building effective relationships within and across community, organisations and institutions, with artists and artist facilitators and community members.
  • Understanding of ways of communicating, including but not limited to an ability to develop messages and resources using a range of approaches and simple language (e.g. newsletters, social media, traditional media).
  • Strong project management, time management and prioritisation skills, demonstrated by an ability to use own initiative to manage varied tasks simultaneously, to meet deadlines.
