Subject Matter Experts, Community Health Focus

WentWest has been part of the Western Sydney community since 2002, delivering primary care support, education and health services, and working with key partners to progress the region’s health system. As the Western Sydney Primary Health Network (WSPHN), WentWest is focused on addressing both regional and national health challenges. Together with health professionals, partners from the health and hospital sector, consumers and the broader community, WentWest seeks to identify gaps and commission solutions for better health outcomes.

WentWest invites expressions of interest for Subject Matter Experts (SME) focusing on Community Health. The SME will provide community health expertise to support a variety of healthcare and government professionals and will support core organisational functions such as client engagement activities and business development efforts.

The selected candidate(s) should be knowledgeable and utilise industry best practice in achieving targeted goals that include improving the quality and impact of client community health activities.

Some of the key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Exercise the critical thinking and knowledge of best practice relating to community health improvement
  • Provide thought leadership, analytical thinking, and domain expertise to the development of community health strategies
  • Facilitate learning and capacity-building among WentWest stakeholders
  • Maintaining community networks and effective collaboration with various teams, sectors and communities.
  • Facilitating engagement among stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness regarding critical process & client dependencies directly impacting WentWest's success.
  • Research and maintain current knowledge of national community health practices and guidelines to provide up-to-date expertise to WentWest.
  • Preparing proposals, papers and involvement in formal speaking engagements

About you:

With relevant qualifications in your area of expertise, you will have Minimum five years’ experience post fellowship in your field. You will have demonstrated strategic planning and analytical ability and be able to resolve complex issues, build consensus among groups of diverse stakeholders, manage strategic partner relationships, and effectively lead and engage internal teams in the fulfilment of roles and responsibilities.

To be successful you will have:

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of health needs assessment, evaluation, and/or data collection/analytics.
  • Able to manage and motivate others through influence and thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with transformation projects / programs and leading change.
  • Ability to coordinate initiatives and bring people together across multiple locations, businesses, and functions.
  • Experience planning and facilitating formal meetings and presentations to diverse audiences.
