The Program Development Officer - Clinical Services Development will support nurses and GPs working in general practices across our region (Penrith, Hawkesbury, Lithgow, Blue Mountains) to deliver high quality care for their patients. A major focus of the position will be to implement a new wound management quality improvement project in general practices. You will have good organisational and project delivery skills and the ability to effectively communicate with nurses, GPs and staff working in general practices. The project uses established quality improvement methodology which you will support practices to implement so they can monitor improvements in the care they are providing.

The role also supports other clinical functions in primary care such as cold chain management. In addition it coordinates capacity building activities for practice nurses across the region including networking opportunities. Experience in primary care nursing is desirable but not essential.

The position is part of a dynamic team who assist general practices and would suit someone who enjoys learning and wants to work with like-minded people.

This position is full time (however part-time will be considered) and is funded until June 2022. Future employment is subject to ongoing funding.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Nursing or Health related field with current APHRA registration.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of chronic disease management.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral, and engagement skills to achieve demonstrated collaboration and partnerships.
  • Proven ability to design, develop and implement program outcomes utilising project management skills, considering risks and mitigation requirements for the project.
  • Proven ability to utilise information technology tools in particular the Microsoft Office suite to an intermediate level, customer relations databases, email and internet.

Desirable

  • Experience working in the general practice or other primary care setting.
  • Experience and knowledge in wound management.
