ABOUT WEFTSHOP

WEFTshop is a Sydney-based non-profit social enterprise that collaborates with and supports artisans living in refugee and migrant communities on the Thai-Burma border. Together we make fashion accessories to generate income and celebrate unique artisan skills in contemporary ways. We work with artisans directly. We are passionate about creative collaboration for good. WEFTshop is incorporated as a non-profit company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. 

OPPORTUNITY

A volunteer board member is sought to help boost our fundraising capacity to support artisan training on the Thai-Burma border and to fund enterprise scope and growth. The role would suit someone who has experience working as a fundraiser who can develop campaigns and appeals, including crowdfunding, apply for grants, and work with companies to seek gifts as part of their corporate social responsibility strategies. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Guide, develop and drive key fundraising strategies and plans for the organisation in line with WEFTshop’s core aims and values
  • Use your networks and CRM experience to develop funding opportunities and relationships to achieve funding objectives
  • Lead the execution of fundraising campaigns
  • Advise on and oversee governance of fundraising activities, including reporting, monitoring and evaluation requirements
  • Build the WEFTshop board’s fundraising capacity and understanding of fundraising best practices and successful, sustainable strategies

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Ability to find creative solutions for small organisations with very limited resources
  • Proven experience developing successful fundraising strategies and securing funds
  • Fundraising skills and knowledge across key domains such as Campaigns and Appeals, Trusts and Foundations, Grants, Corporate Giving and Crowdfunding
  • Experience writing and managing grants and proposals
  • Good project management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and alignment with our values
  • A passion for creativity, collaboration and social enterprise

AVAILABILITY

At least two hours per week (flexible). As a Board Member you would be required to attend a meeting once a quarter.
