Our Disability division has experienced significant growth over the last 2 years since its inception – we’ve grown from supporting one participant to over 100 participants, with the number increasing daily. As such, we are seeking expressions of interest from passionate Disability Support Workers to join our team. Employment is on a casual basis and your hours are expected to increase over time as referrals come in. If you’re looking for something a little more irregular, we are also taking expressions of interest for our on-call pool of workers.

Before you apply, please note that you may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends. Your role will be to provide one-on-one support in various activities to individuals with a wide range of disabilities who receive funding through the NDIS and who receive a service from WCIG.

About You:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role will be highly regarded but NOT essential – we’re happy to train individuals that have the right attitude and are willing to learn
  • Qualifications in Disability (or similar), Level 2 First Aid, Medication Administration, Manual Handling and Infection Control are desirable
  • Excellent communication and rapport building skills to empower people with a disability to engage with the community
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills to implement and maintain Person Centre Plans
  • Genuine desire to enhance the lives of individuals living with a disability and to provide high quality care
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence will be an advantage

Key Duties:

  • Assisting with daily living at home and independent living skills training
  • Provide support in employment and education transition, support coordination and building social, recreational, community and life skills
  • Encouraging independence and for the participant to set achievable goals for themselves
  • Assisting the individual to access community and recreation programs
  • Participate in service planning and review
