We offer wide ranging, locally delivered community healthcare services in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with major hubs in Box Hill and Eltham. We are looking for a Drug Safety Project worker to join our team.

Carrington Health has the opportunity to offer a rewarding and challenging position and is seeking an experienced, motivated health or community professional to join our committed Needle and Syringe Program team (NSP).

The Drug Safety Worker role has a region-wide harm reduction and capacity building focus, and works within a team environment. This unique role combines aspects of direct client support for People who inject drugs (PWID) brief interventions, and project coordination with a range of stakeholders and organisations.

The permanent part time role can be worked across three or four days per week, with flexibility around frequency of participation in the evening NSP ‘Community health outreach program eastern region’ (CHOPER) service that operates every night from 7.30-11.30pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and successfully deliver community based projects
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to build rapport and engage effectively with PWID and other stakeholders.
  • You would be a passionate advocate for self-help, peer and participatory activities for PWID, and for promoting community understanding that create environments where PWID are treated respectfully and without discrimination.
  • You can work effectively in a team environment and build the capacity of other staff.
  • You are self-motivated, capable of setting goals and working creatively with the responsibilities of the role to achieve KPI’s autonomously.
  • You have qualifications and experience in field of health promotion, public health, alcohol and drug or mental health and first aid.
