Specialist Family Violence Practitioner

We exist so that people have access to safe, sustainable and affordable housing and our vision is to be the major provider of social housing services and leading-edge client support programs in the Southern Melbourne Metropolitan region.

This position is within our Specialist Family Violence Program which delivers Intake, Screening, Triage, Assessment and Case Management. This program supports and advocates for Victim Survivors of Family Violence to manage their risk and safety whilst enabling them to build skills to achieve their goals, live their life independently and free from violence.

About the role

The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner provides outreach case managed support to women who are experiencing or recovering from Family Violence.

Duties include:

  • Assessing the client’s immediate situation, safety risk and support needs using the MARAM Risk Assessment tool.
  • Engaging in safety planning with clients.
  • Undertaking case management.
  • Referring clients to appropriate support agencies and organisations
  • Assessing the clients housing and social support needs.
  • Providing advocacy and support activities

About you

We are looking for a motivated individual who can work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver quality outcomes to clients.

Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social or Behavioural Science, Psychology or other relevant discipline at degree level or above
  • Relevant experience working in the community services sector.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in:
    • Responding to requests for services.
    • Family Violence risk assessment.
    • Safety planning.
    • Case management.
    • Providing advocacy and support
    • Working autonomously and under limited direction.
    • Demonstrated ability to contribute to improving service delivery and practice.
  • A proven aptitude to relate positively and confidently with people from all walks of life, in a variety of settings.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills to effectively respond to women in crisis.
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

A Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, valid ‘Employment’ category - Working With Children Check Card is required. The incumbent will be required to undertake a National police check and provide a certificate of vaccination for COVID-19.
