About the role

The Specialist Family Violence Intake and Assessment Worker role provides face to face and telephone based support to women and women with children who are experiencing family violence and/or are homeless or at risk of homelessness who have multiple barriers to accessing appropriate housing.

About you

We are looking for a motivated individual who can work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver quality outcomes to clients.

Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Bachelor in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology or similar discipline.
  • Experience in service provision with clients and any accompanying children, experiencing family violence and/or homelessness.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills to effectively respond to people experiencing family violence, who are in crisis.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in:
    • Family Violence Risk assessment.
    • Safety planning.
    • Client needs assessment.
    • Advocacy and support.
    • Client Referrals.
    • Working within a multi-agency environment.
    • Working independently with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated experience improving service delivery and practice.
  • Excellent client service skills with a high level of confidence in dealing with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Computer skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, valid ‘Employment’ category - Working With Children Check Card.
  • Relevant pre-employment screening and checks which includes a police check.
