What We’re Looking For

• The ability to develop rapport with young people with complex behaviours.
• A flexible approach and able to quickly adapt to the needs of the young person or situation.
• An awareness of trauma and an understanding of the complex needs and behaviours associated with various attachment styles (ongoing training is provided in relation to this also, so you’ll be developing your skills as you earn).
• The ability to leave your ego at the door and work within a strengths and agreement-based model to achieve desired outcomes.
• Cultural awareness and an appreciation for the history, traditions and challenges of our Nation's First People.

We’re looking for superstars! While we are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander based residential care organisation, it’s not essential that you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person or an experienced residential care worker. Our work goes beyond simply providing housing, it relies on keen people skills, brings youth work principals into the OOHC environment, and we have a range of team members from various backgrounds including youth work.

What we really want to see that you can do great work on the ground, work enthusiastically and effectively with at-risk youth, and have a conscientious, pro-active approach to your role and team!

The Details

• The work is based in Redcliffe, Bribie Island and Springwood, so you would ideally be located near one of these areas. Overnight stays are necessary and rostering is flexible across 7 days.
• You’ll need a current drivers license, blue card (or ability to obtain) and your own mobile phone.
• Ideally applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a Cert IV in a relevant field, however we can also assist with supporting team members to meet training requirements.
