Care Team Members - Multiple Locations

Warrama Li

Warrama LI is a Goomeroi word meaning ‘to build’ and we are building an amazing team to help transform lives.

What We’re Looking For

  • The ability to develop rapport with young people with complex behaviours.
  • A flexible approach and able to quickly adapt to the needs of the young person or situation.
  • An awareness of trauma and an understanding of the complex needs and behaviours associated with various attachment styles (ongoing training is provided in relation to this also, so you’ll be developing your skills as you earn).
  • The ability to leave your ego at the door and work within a strengths and agreement-based model to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Cultural awareness and an appreciation for the history, traditions and challenges of our Nation's First People.

We’re looking for superstars! While we are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander based residential care organisation, it’s not essential that you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person or an experienced residential care worker. Our work goes beyond simply providing housing, it relies on keen people skills, brings youth work principals into the OOHC environment, and we have a range of team members from various backgrounds including youth work.

What we really want to see that you can do great work on the ground, work enthusiastically and effectively with at-risk youth, and have a conscientious, pro-active approach to your role and team!

The Details

  • The work is based in Redcliffe, Bribie Island and Springwood, so you would ideally be located near one of these areas. Overnight stays are necessary and rostering is flexible across 7 days.
  • You’ll need a current drivers license, blue card (or ability to obtain) and your own mobile phone.
  • Ideally applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a Cert IV in a relevant field, however we can also assist with supporting team members to meet training requirements.
  • Generous pay and benefits will be discussed during interview.

WHO WE ARE

  • We are proud to say we’re one of Queensland's leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Out-Of-Home-Care providers, with marked success in caring for at-risk and highly vulnerable young people. But as we like to see it, we are in the business of re-building and transforming lives; we just happen to also provide residential care.
  • We offer a unique culturally informed, holistic healing approach to care, which encourages young people to connect with purpose, community, and ultimately to thrive.
  • Warrama Li also offers cultural camps (up to one week in beautiful muddy water country or salt water regions) to support young people to re-connect with country, community and culture.
  • We operate as a family, with our Care Team ‘Aunties’ and ‘Uncles’ fostering mutually respectful relationships, with our young people and with each other, while working with unconditional positive regard.
  • We believe that every young person has an inherent right to safety, nurturing, and growth. We meet our young people where they’re at - at the same time, we open up possibilities and encourage growth that they may not have envisaged, or had opportunities to experience.
  • We are dynamic and evolving organisation, dedicated to team and individual development. Our increasing demand provides the opportunity for several new residential care and youth workers to join our care team. In the coming months, our expansion and development into other service areas may also provide opportunity for team members to expand into other exciting areas of interest as we grow.
