Warrah (Society) is a disability services provider, based in North West Sydney. Inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Warrah has been offering quality supports and services for adults and children living with disability for over 50 years. Warrah is a vibrant community, enriching the lives of individuals through our broad range of services, which include Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Support Services (CSS) and Warrah Specialist School. We also have a certified Biodynamic Farm and Farm Shop.

We are looking for a Farm Shop Sales Assistant to join our Warrah Shop Farm team, based in Dural. Warrah Farm Shop was established as a retail outlet for the produce grown on Warrah’s certified Biodynamic Farm. The shop offers an extensive range of high quality organic and biodynamic produce and groceries. The shop operates as a social enterprise, with all profits from the Farm Shop supporting adults and children with disability.

Reporting to the Enterprise Manager key accountabilities for a Sales Assistant include:

  • Greet customers and provide assistance as needed
  • Ensure that the shop is always clean and beautifully presented
  • Ensure that high standards for quality, customer service and health & safety are met
  • Optimise sales and revenues in line with policy
  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers
  • Respond to customer queries, compliments, complaints and comments
  • Undertake agreed cleaning of the shop daily
  • Maintain Stock, Supplies and Inventories
  • Contribute to special promotions, displays and events as directed
  • Enable the growth of the Warrah Farm brand by reaching or exceeding monthly sales targets
  • Operate the cash register, receive cash and provide correct change
  • Balance cash receipts
  • Record EFTPOS and debit accounts
  • Print and record receipts from both cash register and EFTPOS
  • Keep track of customer credit according to operational policy
  • Provide accurate weekly takings reports
  • Maintain accurate records for internal Warrah accounts
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the Enterprise Manager and Farm team members
  • Liaise and network with suppliers and the organic/bio-dynamic community
  • Work collaboratively and productively with others
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with shop and Warrah staff/volunteers as required
  • Foster an understanding of the ethos of Warrah Farm, including its values, principles and bio-dynamic farming methods
  • Retain a focus on achieving identified relevant priorities and related goals
  • Contribute to, and participate in the social and cultural life of Warrah and its stakeholders when possible
  • Provide a Safe Working and Customer/Public Shop Environment
  • Enter and maintain accurate inventory in IPOS

The following experience, skills and attributes are important to success in this role:

  • Previous experience in a retail role
  • Experience with stocktaking and ordering
  • Good computer skills and use of email
  • Excellent communication skills including written, spoken & listening
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, delivery oriented “hands on” working style
  • Team oriented but also self-sufficient to work independently
  • Current driver's license
  • Current NDIS check or Working with Children Check
