As the Brighter Futures Manager, you will work closely with Beswick School leadership and community stakeholders to enhance youth engagement and educational outcomes. You will address barriers preventing young people from accessing education, training, and employment, and help re-engage school leavers and youth through practical work experiences. Additionally, you will lead the development of local First Nations staff and implement strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program’s outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee program recruitment, financial administration, data collection, and reporting.
- Engage youth in designing and developing social enterprise projects that address community needs.
- Provide training in entrepreneurship, business management, and job readiness.
- Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including government bodies and local community organisations, to ensure program success.
- Collaborate with Beswick School to integrate social enterprise and alternative education pathways into the curriculum.
- Organise cultural camps, sporting events, and workshops on topics such as cyber safety, financial literacy, and health.
- Support the development and launch of youth-led social enterprise projects, providing guidance and ongoing support.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the challenges facing Indigenous youth in the Northern Territory, with demonstrated experience working with young people in remote communities.
- Excellent program management skills, including budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in delivering social enterprise or job readiness programs is an advantage.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor young people.
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (Light Rigid driver’s license, First Aid, Bronze medallion, etc.).
- A teaching qualification or a tertiary qualification in Social Services or Youth Work would be ideal but not essential.
Eligibility
- Undergo a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check (prior to engagement)
- Hold and maintain a NT Working with Children Check (prior to engagement)
- Hold a valid Driver License
- Hold or obtain relevant qualifications.
Salary Package Includes:
- This is a drive-in, drive-out role, ideally suited to candidates based in Katherine or within 50 - 100 km of Wugularr.
- Salary: $80,000 - $89,000 + superannuation.
- 10 weeks annual leave per year.
