Wallumatta Legal is a new, low fee, not for profit law firm, supported by DLA Piper and Macquarie University. It is a social justice project which aims to offer affordable legal services to disadvantaged Australians who do not qualify for Government funded legal services such as Legal Aid and who cannot readily afford usual private practice fees.

If you desire to build your experience in family law, and have a passion for access to justice issues, this will be your opportunity to become a key member of the team designing and building an innovative legal practice.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Wallumatta Legal will focus on advising clients in NSW with family law issues, using legal technology to provide unbundled, fixed-fee, affordable legal services.

The Junior Family Lawyer will:

  • Assist in providing advice and representation to clients
  • Demonstrate their family law skills and experience
  • Contribute to the success of an innovative law firm
  • Report to the Principal Lawyer
  • Build referral pathways

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years post admission experience including experience in family law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A desire to broaden your network
  • The ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • An appetite for applying technology to improve the delivery of and accessibility to legal services
  • A goal to make a positive impact where it really matters
