Due to temporary staffing arrangements, we are looking for a spirited and enthusiastic personality, to fill our Office Coordinator role to help us meet our capacity requirements at our office in DERBY.

We are based in the Kimberley, WA. Walalakoo Aboriginal Corporation is positioning itself as the key political, social, and economic body representing the Nyikina Mangala people of the Kimberley region in Western Australia. Based in Derby, Walalakoo Aboriginal Corporation was established following the Nyikina Mangala Native Title Determination on the 29th of May 2014. It oversees approximately 26, 215 square kilometres of exclusive and non-exclusive possession native title.

Office Coordinator Role Duties:

The main goal of the office coordinator is to ensure that the office operates smoothly and efficiently. Overall the Office Coordinator duties and responsibilities will include; overseeing administrative staff members, receiving, and directing stakeholder communication including correspondence and handling or delegating basic office tasks.

The Office Coordinator will also be responsible for governance support and the delivery of cultural and other support to the Board, members and senior staff of Walalakoo Aboriginal Corporation.

Office Coordinator Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports Walalakoo’s PBC operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff.
  • Supports governance functions of Walalakoo by coordinating Board Meetings and other relevant meetings that help the PBC meet its compliance and other legislative obligations.
  • Maintains office services by organising office operations and procedures, preparing payroll, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and assigning and monitoring clerical functions.
  • Uses good practice procedures for documentation management and record retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records. (Electronic and hard copy).
  • Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.
  • Designs and implements office policies by establishing standards and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results. (Includes Walalakoo’s Ranger Team)
  • Keeps management informed by reviewing work progress and confirming timelines and priorities in a fast paced-adaptive environment.
  • Maintains office staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Supports financial objectives by managing expenditures within budget, analysing variances, and proposing any corrective actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Working Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Immediate Start- Full time/ Casual or Part time contract
  • $60,000 base salary per year (Full Time)

Office Coordinator Qualifications / Skills:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent in business studies or project management
  • Two to three years’ experience in an office management setting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite
  • Financial management experience and qualifications highly desirable

Other Requirements:

  • Any relevant experience in a First Nations Organisation (Native Title PBC experience highly desirable)
