The Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) is the peak body of the community-managed mental health sector in Western Australia, with more than 200 organisational and individual members.

WAAMH influences community attitudes, mental health priorities, policy and practice through mental health promotion, systemic advocacy and development so Western Australians have the rights, resources and support needed for mental wellbeing, recovery and citizenship.

WAAMH’s training reflects recovery-oriented, trauma-informed practice, a strengths-based and person-centred approach and is predominantly delivered to the community services sector.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced Mental Health Training Facilitators (Trainers) to join our team of contract Training Facilitators.

You will be developing and delivering mental health training that reflects evidence-based, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice as part of our public training offering as well as working with members and clients to provide customised training packages. You will be facilitating training both face-to-face and via WAAMH’s online interactive learning stream.

Hours will depend on WAAMH’s schedule of training and custom client bookings. As an independent contractor you will invoice WAAMH for the work allocated.

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for educating the mental health community, including the community mental health workforce, consumers, carers and their families, along with the wider public. You will be a self-starter with strong interpersonal, organisational, and planning skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Psychology, Social Work, Health Promotion, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, or Community Services.

Key Selection Criteria

You will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification such as degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing.
  • Extensive professional experience in the mental health sector and a strong knowledge of the WA sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating mental health training courses.
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of recovery, person-centred and trauma-informed practice, strengths-based approaches, and the value of lived experience expertise.

Appointment Prerequisites

  • National Police Certificate (Provided prior to any successful appointment and screened in accordance with WAAMH policies).
