Chief Executive Officer

WAAC

The Western Australian AIDS Council (“the Council”), was established in 1985 in the midst of a national health crisis.  Today it leads the Western Australian HIV community response by providing a range of care and support services to people living with HIV, promoting healthy behaviours and educating community members on the prevention of HIV, sexually transmissible infections and blood borne viruses and engaging with community partners in order to do this important work. The Council is active in optimising LGBTI + health and wellbeing and reducing harms related to alcohol and other drug use. The Council is a community based, not-for-profit organisation, with a focus on exceptional service delivery.

WAAC’s Board seeks to appoint a CEO to provide strategic leadership for the organisation during a period of considerable change in the not for profit sector and the global response to HIV prevention and treatment.

The CEO has diverse responsibilities including ensuring excellent service delivery to community members, managing existing relationships and partnerships with the public and private sectors including funders, the medical and research fraternity and community groups and developing the ongoing professionalism of its staff and volunteers. Other responsibilities include investigating new funding opportunities within the public and private sectors, contributing to policy development and advocacy at a state and national level and overseeing the ongoing evaluation of WAAC’s services.

We seek an individual who has proven leadership capabilities, strong political acumen, excellent interpersonal skills in order to build strong and sustainable partnerships and a commercial aptitude for this key role. Intended applicants are likely to have formal qualifications in a health or community services related discipline (a Masters qualification is desirable) together with a proven record of success at a senior executive level. An attractive remuneration package is offered.
