Very Special Kids provides holistic care for Victorian families facing the potential death of a child with a life limiting condition. We provide; counselling and emotional support for the whole family, medically-supported respite care and end of life care and long-term bereavement support. Our free-of-charge services help more than 900 families across Victoria, with ongoing support, from the child’s diagnosis all the way through to recovery or bereavement and beyond.

Our eight bed children's hospice offers planned and emergency respite as well as end-of-life care for children with life-threatening conditions. Most children who come to stay have complex medical and care needs.

Often the first point of contact in the Hospice, this position provides valuable support to the hospice management and clinical team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the Referral and Intake process.
  • Liaising with VSK families that use the hospice including the pre-admission processes, maintaining bookings systems and processes.
  • Managing the family accommodation bookings, servicing and maintenance.
  • Trouble shooting and basic IT support to the Hospice Team including being a subject matter expert in the use of our care management system and on/off boarding.
  • Administering meetings including preparation of agenda and taking minutes.
  • Monthly statistical reporting to the Office Manager and as required for fundraisers.
  • Other administrative support as required.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, enjoy a varied role with plenty of people contact, have a can-do friendly personality, demonstrated depth and breadth of administration experience, the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, high attention to detail, proven meeting minute taking skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks. In addition you will bring with you; proven Microsoft office skills, experience in the healthcare and/or NFP sectors, demonstrated initiative and ability to flex with changing priorities.
