The Communications and Engagement Officer will play a key role in the success of the development and implementation of the weVolunteer communication plan and engagement with various audiences and stakeholders.

Working closely with the Senior Communications Officer, the Communications and Engagement Officer will test, develop and implement the communications strategy to raise awareness for weVolunteer, leading to direct engagement and contact with organisations and volunteers and directing them to register on the platform in-line with agreed protocols.

The Communications and Engagement Officer will be the first point of contact for organisations and volunteers who come forward for support, linking them with appropriate resources.

Position Responsibilities

Communication Strategy

  • Establish and work closely with the Senior Communications Officer to implement the Communication plan
  • Develop and test branding and key communication messaging for the project:
    • The development of communication activities and collateral
    • Establish measures to evaluate the ongoing impact of communication activities to ensure continued learning and improvement
    • Reviewing material regularly, on the basis of feedback where feasible
  • Report on the impact of the communication strategy
  • Develop relationships with relevant audiences to help promote weVolunteer and increase awareness of volunteer pool and volunteer passport
  • To monitor and work within agreed budget, in liaison with the Senior Communications Officer
  • Research new content relevant to the project

Social Media

  • Create content and develop a social media content calendar to support engagement across all platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, including representing Volunteering Victoria at meetings, and with other key stakeholders and members
  • Build capacity and knowledge of each key stakeholder, especially volunteer involving organisations, to ensure effective communication outcomes
  • Respond to stakeholder enquiries

Other

  • Reasonable administrative tasks as expected when working within a rapidly growing and evolving project

Qualifications, skills & experience

Essential

  • A relevant undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience
  • Experiencing of writing and implementing project plans
  • Experience of producing written content in order to provide information
  • Experience of working in partnership with others
  • Effective at building relationships with stakeholders and maintaining a strong network
  • Effective planning, organisational and time-management skills to implement project schedules within deadlines
  • Effective written communication skills and ability to present information clearly
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely reports and briefing on activities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage a variety of external and internal audiences
  • Able to engage thoughtfully and sensitively with people

Highly Desirable

  • Experience of using online design tools such as Canva
  • Experience of using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of using social media on behalf of an organisation
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing/engagement plans
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
