Inclusive Volunteering Coordinator (paid position)

The Inclusive Volunteering Program – Pathways to Employment, works with people with a disability to help them meet their own employment goals by supporting them into volunteering roles that will build those skills. The Inclusive Volunteering Program Coordinator facilitates the program in the ACT, working collaboratively with the coordinators in NSW and Tasmania.

Duties

  • Development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of all activities in the Inclusive Volunteering Program as per the funding agreement including:
    • Providing volunteering organisations with informed, inclusion focussed and best practice volunteering advice, support and training to involve volunteers with barriers on a pathway to employment
    • Support individuals with barriers to identify and shape their employee goals and source appropriate volunteering roles that contribute to those goals
    • Matching volunteers with a mentor where appropriate based on consideration of a broad range of factors for both the volunteer and the mentor to ensure outcomes are met
    • Support and develop advice and recommendations from the Participant Advisory Committee to ensure Program delivery meet the needs of people living with disability
    • Work collaboratively in a team across three jurisdictions to support consistent and high-quality service delivery and develop innovative practices
    • Prepare, update and deliver, including assisting with understanding and completion, all relevant documentation, training courses, resources and information packs for the Program
  • Maintain highly effective communication for the Program including tailoring communication style and approach to address individual needs
  • Maintain an effective volunteer and mentor database, regularly review information and update as needed (including keeping accurate and up to date case notes) including identifying opportunities for streamlining information management
  • Effectively recruit, screen, train and manage mentor volunteers to meet organisational and program objectives including utilising retention and recognition techniques
  • Adhere to VACT’s policies, procedures, systems and legislative requirements
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all interactions with external stakeholders, including regular formal and informal feedback and Program evaluation
  • Build and maintain professional relationships, including collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Prepare high quality reports for relevant Departments, Board of Directors and for the Executive team
  • Identify, research and recommend new service or product opportunities in line with operational and strategic plans
  • Actively and professionally represent the organisation at events, expos and meetings as required
  • Contribute to the smooth running and facilitation of both business sites
  • Respond to all general enquiries including resolving member and VACT online platform enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Contribute to organisational priorities including ongoing program alignment and partnering.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or disability or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the community sector including program experiencing supporting people with a barrier
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment and utilising a broad range of communication approaches to suit audience’s needs.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering customer focused programs and projects including empowering individuals to self-advocate and work towards identified goals
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Efficient at using IT platforms and databases including maintaining accurate and timely records

Desirable:

  • Experience in facilitating training and/or meetings

Other requirements:

  • Must be flexible as this position will require out of hours and weekend work on an as necessary basis
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Check or willingness to obtain one
