Then Voiceworks needs you!

The Voiceworks community choir is an inclusive performing arts group led by professional staff as part of Vocal Ensemble Voiceworks Inc. (VEV). We stage public performances every year and, as a show choir, we do more than make beautiful music. We also include costume, lighting, simple choreography and humour to make sure that our performances are great entertainment.

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Accompanist who enjoys community involvement and who has appropriate professional skills and experience. Someone with a background in playing piano with an interest in singing and arranging. You are also a team player with good communication skills and able to work with a creative team of various musical and theatre backgrounds.

THIS ROLE REQUIRES SOMEONE WHO CAN:

• Provide keyboard accompaniment for Voiceworks weekly rehearsals (40 sessions per year from 6.45 – 9.45pm on Tuesdays, aligned with public school terms).
• Provide accompaniment for extra rehearsals and performances as required.
• Work with the Music Director to choose and arrange repertoire including recording backing tracks
• Assist the Musical Director with vocal coaching and provide feedback to choir members as needed

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Proficiency in playing piano or keyboard instruments
• Ability to sight-read music
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for music and interest in working with a choir community

• Experience in the performing arts

DESIRABLE CRITERIA 

• Experience with sound recording and editing
