  • Part-time (0.8FTE) ongoing position based in Bendigo
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $91,334 - $114,165 (pro rata) plus superannuation
  • Attractive employee benefits including salary packaging

About the role:

In this varied and challenging position, you will supervise and support a small team of non-legal advocates as they deliver quality support services to consumers who are undergoing compulsory mental health treatment under the Mental Health Act 2014 (Vic).

As a senior team member, you will provide supervision and mentoring to the team, monitor and manage caseload issues and ensure that effective debriefing practices are upheld to support the health and wellbeing of your team members.

You will provide advocacy services in complex matters and empower your consumers to know and exercise their rights within the mental health system, allowing them to participate in decisions relating to their own assessment, treatment and recovery.

About you:

You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and employ these alongside your understanding of the mental health sector to advocate on behalf of your consumers. You are dedicated to ensuring your consumers have the knowledge and tools available to participate as much as possible in decisions surrounding their treatment and recovery. Your strong belief in the rights of individuals who are experiencing the mental health system will inform your approach to communication, negotiation and strategic influence, as you build positive and mutually beneficial relationships with a broad range of stakeholders; including consumers, service providers and clinicians.

Crucial to your success in this role is your experience in supporting and leading a team through often challenging work, and your ability to build a team environment which supports individual and team development and prioritises staff health and wellbeing.
