Following a year of tumultuous change caused by bushfires and the coronavirus pandemic, health equity and a focus on health and wellbeing has never been more important.

VicHealth’s Social Marketing & Communications teams have a critical role in engaging with and delivering health promotion messages to the Victorian community.

We work with our partners to do everything we can to promote healthy eating, encourage regular physical activity, prevent tobacco use, prevent harm from alcohol and improve mental wellbeing.

The External Communications Team is focused on sharing compelling stories and important information with the Victorian public and stakeholders.

The Social Media Lead reports directly to the External Communications Manager and works in close partnership with all Social Marketing & Communications teams to deliver effective, strategic communications.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of VicHealth’s social media presence across multiple platforms and brands, including content planning and execution, strategy and risk management across paid and organic content.

You’ll also be responsible for VicHealth’s This Girl Can – Victoria social media channels.

This role will also work closely with the CEO office in managing our CEO’s active social media presence.

The successful candidate will research, test and evaluate new and emerging social media platforms and monitoring tools, to stay on top of industry trends and respond to data-driven insights.

About you

You think on your feet, with the ability to be responsive to the immediate nature of social media.

Live tweeting events is second nature and you have experience in ensuring engagement and managing risk when responding to community questions.

You possess the ability to use initiative, problem solve and to work collaboratively within a strong team environment.

  • Tenure: Full Time, Ongoing
  • Classification: VicHealth Grade D
  • Remuneration: $87,802 (plus superannuation and other benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations or similar area
  • Social media experience including a detailed understanding of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrable digital content creation, writing, editing and ‘storytelling’ skills
  • Experience in data analysis, monitoring and reporting
  • Basic graphic design/Photoshop/Illustrator skills for social media/digital purposes
  • Experience using Google Analytics, CMS, and social media for work purposes
  • Understanding of SEO
  • Experience working within the communications, public health, community or government sectors preferred
