Seeking Expressions of Interest for Director Roles - Vets Beyond Borders

Vets Beyond Borders (VBB) is a Not-for-Profit company limited by guarantee, and is an Australian registered charity. VBB works to improve animal health and welfare, both within Australia and overseas. VBB’s work is based on a One Health paradigm, where improvements in community animal health lead to direct benefits for public health and human wellbeing.
Under VBB’s VetMatch program we work with overseas community-based Partner Organisations to deploy experienced volunteer veterinarians and veterinary nurses to provide animal care in developing countries, with a particular focus in the Asia-Pacific Region. Under VBB’s VetTrain program we deliver sponsored veterinary training in overseas locations where such training is not readily available. Within Australia, VBB provides veterinary professional volunteers for natural disaster responses involving animals through our Australian Veterinary Emergency Response Team (AVERT) program, and we assist local animal welfare charities with their important community work.
The VBB Board comprises up to 9 non-executive directors and provides governance and guidance to the organisation, represents the interests of the stakeholders, and supports the CEO to ensure that our strategic objectives are met, and the organisation is soundly managed. We are seeking 3 new directors to join the VBB Board bringing skills and experience that will assist VBB to deliver against the strategic plan. The Board is seeking particular skills to enhance its governance and to complement the skills of the continuing Board members. Candidates with skills and experience in fundraising and/or legal expertise are particularly sought for this round of board appointments.
The role of a VBB director requires attendance at an expected 12 board meetings per year, and service on one or more of the following board subcommittee/s:
Meetings are typically held via video conferencing to increase accessibility of meetings. However in-person attendance may be required from time to time.
