About the role

  • Permanent part-time (rotating shifts)

We have an amazing opportunity for a Residential Care Worker who is looking for job security. We provide a home-like environment for children and young people who are waiting for foster care placements.

Our Residential Care Workers are part of a dedicated team, lead by a House Manager, to work with up to 4, low to medium needs children. The team supervise, support and care for children in a residential setting. This is your opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of young people who have experienced significant trauma, while growing your skillset in a stable and values-driven organisation.

Residential Care Workers work on a 4 week rotating roster, which includes sleepovers. With the exception of the sleepover period, all shifts are double-staffed.

Selection Criteria

All applicants must address the following selection criteria below, by writing a brief paragraph that includes examples of how you meet the criteria. Essential Criteria:

  1. What are your qualifications? (Minimum of a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services or similar plus experience in residential work, OR Diploma or Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or similar human services field)
  2. What is your experience working within a residential care setting with young people?
  3. What is your experience working with challenging behaviours such as verbal and physical aggression?
  4. What is your understanding of the case management model?
  5. How would you describe your computer literacy and your ability to complete all reports on a computer?
  6. Please provide examples of your problem-solving, crisis management and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. What knowledge of the child protection sector and issues facing children in out-of-home care do you have?
  8. Do you have both a current driver’s license and first aid certificate?
