Are you a medical doctor with a deep understanding and commitment to Victorian Aboriginal health, Aboriginal cultures, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control?

Would you relish a-once-in-a-career opportunity to work within the Aboriginal community controlled health sector in Victoria and provide expert medical guidance, advice and support on a wide range of primary health care and public health issues. This includes advising ACCOs on their Covid-19 response and preparedness for the Covid-19 Vaccine Program roll out.

VACCHO is the peak body for Aboriginal health and wellbeing in Victoria, the only one of its kind, with 32 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations as Members. VACCHO is seeking expressions of interest from passionate medical doctors, preferably with Victorian ACCO GP experience, for the role of Public Health Medical Officer for a 6 -12 month engagement

Your work will include:

  • Provide guidance, advice, and support on a wide range of primary health care and public health issues, including the Covid-19 pandemic response, on local, state and national level to VACCHO members, Board, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with the ACCO primary health care sector to develop strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Provide independent advice on matters of clinical practice to VACCHO teams.

The role is part-time (0.8 FTE) for a period of 6-12 months.
