This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ‘special measures’ of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

VACCHO is Victoria’s peak representative Aboriginal health body and champions community control and health equality for Aboriginal communities. We are the only AHPRA registered provider of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner training course in Victoria and over 90% of our students are Aboriginal.

We are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with experience in the health care sector to join us in our Education and Training Unit. We need someone that is dynamic, friendly, with a strong connection to the Aboriginal community to help our students succeed in their career goals!

The successful applicant will be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is a registered health professional (such as a Division 1 or 2 Nurse, Aboriginal Health Practitioner, etc.) with experience in primary or community health care who is passionate about teaching others about how to provide the best quality care.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its equivalent) or higher-level qualification in adult education;
  • Experience in health care;
  • Experience training others;
  • Passion for supporting Aboriginal people;
  • and Great people skills, including a friendly and professional manner.

This is a fantastic opportunity for health professional to move into a role that allows you to have regular contact with students, and support improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

  • A Victorian Drivers Licence is required. Travel is a requirement of this position. This includes travel across Victoria and occasional inter-state travel. Travel at this time has been impacted by COVID-19 but will be an integral part of the role.
