About the role

Aboriginal Children’s Healing Team (ACHT) provides high quality therapeutic culturally embedded services to Aboriginal children and young people who are clients of VACCA. As a Therapeutic Practitioner you will provide culturally respectful and appropriate assessment, using a Mental Health Social Emotional Well Being framework, secondary consultation, advice and healing for children aged 0-18.

The main responsibility of the role:

  • Reflective practice to the teams within VACCA.
  • To provide high quality culturally sound SEWB secondary consultation to programs within VACCA, assessments and therapeutic plans for children and young people as required.
  • To contribute to work to stabilise children’s placements, to develop trauma informed transition plans, behaviour management plans and establish predictable routines for children in care.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field Psychology/Social Work/Speech Therapist/ Family Therapy/ Occupational Therapist
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, the impact of trauma and the ability to respond therapeutically to Aboriginal children’s pain-based behaviours
  • Experience in working in Aboriginal led organisations and/or a children’s mental health service will be highly regarded
  • Experience in developing and delivering training
