About the role

The Youth program sits within the VACCA Southern Metropolitan client services division. The program is responsible for delivering culturally appropriate and quality services to Aboriginal young people aged between 12 – 21 years in the Southern Division.The principle role of the Team Leader is to oversee the day to day management of VACCA’ s Youth Programs, meet the high level of reporting and evaluation requirements of the programs, and to engage, guide, supervise and support our team of youth workers in the delivery of the listed service. In addition, this position has a key role in providing culturally safe support, guidance and mentoring to all staff in the program.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families, children and young person
  • A well-developed understanding of Child Protection issues and the characteristics and needs of young people leaving care or who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • A relevant qualification in diploma or degree or equivalent in Youth Work, Social Work, Social Welfare Sector or the like will be desirable
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in the child, youth and family’s sector
  • Experience in managing a team
