Let's talk about the role...

The Team Leader- Foster Care is a key role in the leadership team at Eastern VACCA. You will be responsible for leading a team of experienced professional Case Managers, as well as mentoring and developing new Case Managers and Case Support Workers. You will be pivotal in providing guidance, practice advice and direction to the team as it takes on the task on ensuring that the Aboriginal young people and their carers get the best possible service we can provide.

Other tasks associated with the role are:

  • Allocate cases to caseworkers and monitor the management of the cases - Monitor and ensure program targets for all components of the program are met;
  • Day-to-day running of the Foster Care Program and ensuring that staff have adequate resources to fulfil their tasks
  • Supervision and reflective practice with team members;
  • Ensure that data is recorded, collated and monitored for the Foster Care Program as required by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), particularly in relation to the use of CRIS and CRISSP
  • Prepare monthly data for the Senior Program Manager, so that reporting is accurate and meeting goals;
  • Allocate Case Workers and provide support and mentoring for the Case Workers in your team to grow.

The key ingredients for success are...

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent qualifications (or willing to obtain) and/or significant professional experience in the field
  • A full Victorian Drivers licence
  • A current Working with Children Check for a paid employee
  • A clear National Police Check (less than 3 months old)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a Foster Care or other related Out of Home Care setting or child protection environment
  • The ability to work in a manner that is non-judgemental and culturally safe, ensuring the maintenance of good professional boundaries and standards
  • Resilience, compassion, positivity and energy
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive networks and relationships
  • Superior attention to detail and an eye for process improvement
  • Demonstrated skills in self-awareness, cultural awareness, autonomy, problem solving skills and conflict resolution
