The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of it’s kind in Australia. About the role

This is a newly funded role to VACCA within the Eastern Orange Door Hub; however, this role is well established within other Orange Door Hubs across the state.

The Practitioner will be based at the Orange Door office in Box Hill and report to Aboriginal Team Leader who is based at the Orange Door Box Office and leads a team of multidisciplinary practitioners to deliver high quality, safe and effective responses to Aboriginal children, adults and families seeking supports from the Orange Door.

You will work within the family and domestic violence service model, including client screening, triaging, risk assessment, crisis response, service planning and targeted intervention response.

About You

  • Demonstrated understanding of Family Support Services and different models of intervention.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Intake processes, MARAM and assessment of risk.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in Family Violence and wellbeing
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and liaise with government and non-government agencies to achieve mutually agreed client outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of children, young people, individuals and families in ways which advance organisational objectives
  • Requirement: Current COVID-19 vaccination (Including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a valid Victorian Drivers License

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, social sciences or related field or work experience and expertise in the sector.
