The United Workers Union is seeking a highly motivated Member Research Specialist. This position is advertised in Melbourne but is available Australia-wide.

This role will be key in improving the union’s understanding of its members and their experiences. The successful candidate will be trusted with the responsibility to run research projects that will play a strategic role in making business decisions by providing insights about members especially in the context of improving member retention.

Candidates with experience in an organisation with a large membership/subscriber base will be highly regarded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Member Research: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research focusing on members’ experiences through a combination of surveys, focus groups, opinion polls and direct interviews so we can identify the gaps within our current member journey and improve engagement.
  • Member Satisfaction Annual Survey: Run a comprehensive Member Satisfaction Survey annually and present results for the whole of union as well as for key segments like industry portfolios to measure member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Insights & Solutions: Propose solutions for improving retention and engagement of members by using insights derived from sources like structured interviews of resigned members, industry trends, competition analysis and so on.
  • Pulse Check: Use digital sources to gather insights about our members including social media conversations, forums, blogs, online reviews, website behaviour, web search patterns, CRMs and databases so we are always listening in and know the temperature of the spaces our members are in.
  • Hive Mind: Understand needs, motivations, barriers and experiences of members and use the knowledge to support retention work for each of the portfolios.
  • Best Practices: Do competition research periodically along with industry best practices specifically for member retention and engagement activities and share it across the union with relevant teams.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Experienced in managing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research in the context of consumer/membership research
  • Ability to gather data from multiple, sometimes unconventional sources and turn it into a story that delivers key insights about our members
  • Adept at conducting statistical analysis such as regression/propensity/cluster analysis etc.
  • Strong knowledge of business visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau etc
  • Prior research experience within a similar role working with member/subscriber data
  • Proficiency in handling imperfections in data including processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data
  • Demonstrated passion and drive to improve workers’ lives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder management and project management experience

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

  • Right of Entry Permits; and
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

  • Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
  • 16% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
