The Hive, Mt Druitt leads collective work to ensure all children in Mt Druitt start school well. Mt Druitt has 6000 children under 5 years old and 33% of those are considered ‘developmentally vulnerable’ when they start school. The Hive is a network of people working in Mt Druitt, to bring together the community, services, businesses, government, and philanthropy to address locally identified priorities.

We are seeking someone with Early Childhood and Community Engagement experience to plan and facilitate children’s programs and activities with a focus on Early Childhood Development and Learning within the local Mt Druitt community. The Early Childhood Educator will work closely with the ECDL Lead and Community Engagement Coordinator to engage local families and children through the design and delivery of ‘soft entry’ early childhood programs which support the growth and development of children aged 0-5 years.

ABOUT YOU

As the Early Childhood Educator you will have a Diploma in Education and Care with at least 3+ years’ experience working in the education sector. You will have experience engaging with local communities and organisations to facilitate children’s programs and activities with a focus on supporting children’s development and promoting social connection for families and children living in the Mt Druitt area.

You will have knowledge and understanding around the complexities of working with vulnerable communities as well as experience working with CALD and First Nations families. You will be driven to achieve for children to ensure they are supported to start school well, and therefore improve their chances of a good life.

You will have a demonstrated ability to connect and network with community and to work collaboratively with a range of external stakeholders to deliver quality children’s community events and programs.

You will have the core skills required to work in this sector:

  • High level interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others in planning and delivering events and programs
  • Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and work in a flexible work environment.
