The Hive, Mt Druitt leads collective work to ensure all children in Mt Druitt start school well. We have 6000 children under 5 years old and 33% of those are considered ‘developmentally vulnerable’ when they start school. The Hive is a network of people working in Mt Druitt, to bring together the community, services, businesses, government, and philanthropy to address locally identified priorities.

We are seeking someone with Early Childhood Development and Learning expertise to lead, manage and implement early childhood focused priorities and tasks. The ECDL Lead will work closely with preschools, early childhood educators and community practitioners and will provide ECDL expertise to the Hive Director, team and other stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

You are driven to achieve for children to ensure they are supported to start school well, and therefore improve their chances of a good life. Creating improvements in early childhood development and learning is an area where you can demonstrate what is needed, what works and you have experience of how to make that happen working across a collective.

As the ECDL Lead you will have a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. You will lead the thinking on integrated child and family service provision in the context of early education and care settings and the early years of school. You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the early education and care sector as well as other professional disciplines focused on young children i.e. child health, family support or community engagement.

You will have demonstrated ability to connect and network with community as well as government and non-government stakeholders. You will have an ability to work flexibly in a highly adaptive and collaborative environment and to work confidently with school principals and staff.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to inform advocacy and influencing efforts with all levels of government and have a proven track record informing systems change work.

You will have the core skills required to work in this sector: high level interpersonal and influencing skills, proficient in networking and collaborating and the capacity to work across policy, systems, service and community change making.
