The Opportunity

Our Child, Youth and Family Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our Urban Youth team and group programs. Based in Paralowie, you’ll provide group programs and case management services for young people aged between 10 – 25 years who are at risk of harm, especially young people from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, new arrivals and those under the Guardianship of the Minister or within the Youth Justice system. 

A day in the life looks like

In this role, you’ll be working across Northern Adelaide, working with a number of young people on a daily basis. You’ll be providing services to young people and their families and creating and implementing group programs in the local community.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and implementing group programs in the local community
  • General case management services to young people from a strengths-based perspective, that are goal orientated and meet their needs
  • Identify and set priorities for clients within deadlines
  • Provide information and referral pathways to support and encourage self-management
  • Advocate for and maintain the rights of young people
  • Assist young people to develop confidence and increase their self – esteem and motivation

About you

As our new Youth Worker, you will be an engaging, proactive and motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll be intuitive and resilient, as well as someone who has high levels of emotional intelligence and cultural awareness.

You will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum Diploma of Community or Youth Services or relevant
  • SA Driver’s License
  • Current Working With Children Check and Child Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes Training
  • Previous experience working with young people with complex needs
  • The ability to run and develop group programs with young people
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Experience in case management, including assessment, planning, referral and advocacy
