Psychosocial Support Mentors

The Opportunity

We are seeking Psychosocial Support Mentors to work collaboratively with people with a mental health illness to provide a range of holistic rehabilitation options, and provide support to improve their wellbeing. This role will also consist of weekend and fill in shifts as needed.

The role will also be responsible to conduct assessments, provide advocacy, and liaise with individuals, families, the service coordinator and other connected professionals and agencies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a range of person centred and goal-oriented support services that enable people to achieve their goals (which may include; independent living in the community, personal care, community connections through groups and developing social skills, self-care, shopping, budgeting, safety and family contact)
  • Work with people to develop individual support and/or goal plans, as per assessment tools as required, within agreed timeframes
  • Observe and communicate wellbeing concerns to individual, team and other relevant connected services
  • Plan and action time effectively to meet UnitingSA program and client’s needs.
  • Actively engage in regular meetings to address service development and delivery issues

The successful candidate will have a Degree, Diploma or Post Graduate qualification in Human Services. Certificate IV in Peer Support Mental Health or Mental Health Certificate IV or equivalent will also be advantageous.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who has the ability to provide strong professional boundaries, while maintaining rapport. You will also have experience working with multiple and complex psychosocial needs, and experience in leadership and group facilitation.
