About the opportunity

Located in Leichhardt, Uniting is has a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated Deputy Service Manager to join our supportive team in Uniting The Marion on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse, endorsed by AHPRA and have demonstrated commitment and dedication to providing the highest quality care and services, which meet the needs and requirements of the individual client.

You will have the proven ability to lead and coordinate service strategies in functional areas and possess high level written and oral communication skills, including effective presentation and interpersonal skills.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Assigning work allocations to team members based on their skills and abilities.
  • Facilitating the development of your team to uphold the unique needs of each client
  • Working for the continuous improvement of our service in line with Accreditation Standards
  • Advocating with and for our clients and their families to enable choice and decision making that supports independence
  • Interpreting audits and data, identify trends, provide advice and implement improvement initiatives
  • Excel at contemporary clinical assessment, making the most of funding we receive. You’ll be confident using the ACFI funding recording tool to achieve this.
  • You will oversee the clinical assessment process to ensure that each of our residents’ complex care needs are identified and regularly reviewed, reassessed and updated in their care plan.
  • You’ll advocate with and for our clients and their carers and families to enable choice and decision making that supports independence and quality of life.
  • You’ll contribute to a cohesive and harmonious team that respects each other’s ideas, integrity and abilities.
  • Your clinical leadership will ensure complex care and specialised nursing services are delivered by appropriately skilled staff under clinically-focused supervision.
  • You’ll support your team by sharing your knowledge, providing mentoring and clinical supervision on shift.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with AHPRA 
  • Flu and Covid Vaccinations
  • Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in Social Services, Management, Aged Care, Human Services or related disciplines

Skills & experience

  • A good insight into the changes occurring within aged care sector (at least 5 years)
  • very extensive knowledge of ACFI
  • proved previous extensive experience in staff management (at least 2 years)
  • Great communication and customer service skills and the ability to get along easily with others
  • Confident in giving and receiving feedback
  • Able to problem solve, negotiate, mediate and resolve conflict
  • A good understanding of contemporary aged care, clinical practice and clinical leadership in a residential setting
  • Previous experience in the aged care sector and clinical nursing
  • Insight into how relevant state and Commonwealth legislation impacts aged care services
