About the role

This role is responsible for looking after the Statutory Reporting for the Uniting business.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory accounts for all Uniting entities.
  • Assist Finance Manager to prepare ARC & Board Papers
  • Prepare position papers on accounting standards and assist implementing new standards.
  • Liaise & respond to external and internal audit activities.
  • Prepare ACNC, Prudential Compliance, FBT and BAS returns
  • Update & Maintain Related Party Register
  • Update & Report on Workers Compensation
  • Collaborating with the broader finance management team on initiatives, including year-end reporting and new report development
  • Support with regular reviews of the balance sheet and ensure no surprises
  • Act as subject matter expert and coach on all technical reporting matters
  • Understand P&L drivers and balance sheet, P&L and Cashflow are reported to statutory requirements

Experience:

  • Financial Statements preparation exposure in a large organisation
  • Documentation and roll out of new accounting policies
  • Industry knowledge of the aged care or family services sector.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems in a large scale service environment, preferably MS Dynamics AX.
  • Experience working on shared services environment if possible.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office and accounting software
  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to interact with all levels of staff and management as with third-party service provider 

Qualification:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA/CPA qualified
  • This role would be ideally suited to someone from a Big 4 Audit firm or a second-tier firm and with a statutory audit background
  • IFRS and Local accounting standards technical knowledge is essential.
