We currently have an exciting leadership opportunity for a Major Coordinator to join our friendly and supportive Sydney Central Home Maintenance & Modification Service (HMMS) on a full-time basis. 

The role is based in Marrickville with clients across the Inner West and South East Sydney.

The Role:

This role is within the Uniting Home Maintenance and Modification Service (HMMS) and is responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing the cost effective and quality major maintenance and modification services
  • Operating within government funded guidelines, Australian Standards as well as Building Code of Australia for small, medium and large scale projects
  • Work in close collaboration with the broader HMMS team members
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, their families/representative, contractors, industry professionals, relevant Government departments and agencies , local networks and members of the community
  • Prepare quotes for major maintenance and modification services as required
  • Act as the nominated qualified supervisor for the Uniting Home Maintenance and Modification
  • Ensure that contractors are meeting Work Health & Safety requirements

These services are provided to clients of the Uniting HMMS, including frail aged people, people with disability and their carers/representatives, to assist them in maintaining their independence and to live safely in their own home.

About you 

You are an exceptional leader with strong management skills. Specifically, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Diploma or Degree in Aged Care, Business Administration, Project Coordination, building industry or equivalent experience and relevant to the field of work
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate competing workloads and tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to best practice and continuous improvement
  • Ability to provide innovative ideas and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build rapport and nurture a team through change
  • Working knowledge of Building Code of Australia and Australian standards
  • Understanding of WHS principles and risk management practices
  • Willingness to travel around Greater Sydney Area
  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Proficient in using computer applications including Microsoft office, client/data management systems and a willingness to learn new programs
  • Current First Aid or willingness to obtain
