About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking a passionate and supportive Family Caseworker to join our “Supporting Families Program” in our Central Coast team.
This role is responsible for providing culturally responsive “short-term” case work to vulnerable families with children aged 0 to 11 years living on the Central Coast. The Supporting Families program sits within the Early Intervention team based at Wyong.

This role requires motivated, sensitive, and nurturing professionals who are passionate to work collaboratively within our team and to develop safe relationships that supports vulnerable families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intake and assessment of families into the program.
  • Provide information, advice and referral to other services or within Uniting.
  • Provide support for families to set and achieve their goals through home visiting, advocacy, life skills, child development, parenting, routines, budgeting.
  • Deliver evidence based parenting programs.
  • Assist families to connect socially in the local community.
  • Provide culturally responsive and strengths based support to families in all aspects of service provision.

What you need to succeed

  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications including social sciences, welfare or early childhood or other area of study relevant to the role.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and families using a strengths-based approach.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principals of early intervention.
  • Demonstrated understanding of children’s developmental stages and practical parenting strategies.
  • Experience of working with diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to identify needs, strengths and potential risks.
  • Current drivers licence and willingness to use own or private vehicle (with comprehensive insurance) for work related travel if required, and willingness to transport families and children.
