This is a casual position – availability required on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 8:30am to 1:30pm. Located in Port Macquarie NSW. Starting base hourly rate $37.91 plus casual loading.

About the opportunity:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Uniting is seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Facilitator to join our team in Port Macquarie, NSW. This is a casual position, and we need someone with availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

As an Early Childhood Facilitator, you’ll have the rewarding opportunity to support families and children attending Uniting’s Supported Playgroups. You will play a crucial role in enhancing children’s wellbeing, fostering their growth, and building culturally supportive environments, particularly for the local Aboriginal community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create engaging playgroup programs: Work closely with the Lead Facilitator, parents, and volunteers to deliver fun, educational, and culturally relevant activities.
  • Support families: Provide information, support, advocacy, and referrals to families in need, ensuring they feel heard and valued.
  • Deliver evidence-based programs: Implement programs like Small Talk to support childhood development and strengthen parenting skills.
  • Keep things running smoothly: Maintain accurate records, ensure the safety of resources, and contribute to an open, productive team environment.
  • Get involved: Participate in community activities and early childhood committees, fostering strong connections in the community.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with children with special needs and implementing behaviour management strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to create stimulating and educational play environments for children aged birth to five years.
  • Understanding of strengths-based and trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, crisis handling, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Current First Aid Certificate – Desirable
  • Qualification in Early Childhood
  • Current NSW WWCC
