This is a management role within the South West Sydney Brighter Futures Program and is responsible for the day to day coordination, management and leadership of a team of caseworkers delivering the Brighter Futures Model to families where there is risk of abuse and neglect of a child 0-9 years, and who are at risk of further escalation in the child protection system.  

This is a full-time contract until June 30th 2021 based in Campbelltown.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the priorities and appropriate outcomes for the team and your specific areas of accountability
  • Prepare relevant program work plans and reports against achievements required by the Funding body in a timely manner
  • Participate and comply with all quality management systems and processes
  • Provide regular feedback and reporting on the progress of the Brighter Futures program to Uniting management, DCJ and work with all stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to any barriers to full implementation of the service
  • Supervise the day to day allocation of families to Brighter Futures Caseworkers
  • Manage tracking and data base systems of outcomes of referrals within the Brighter Futures Program
  • In partnership with Managers and the other Casework Coordinators appropriately manage the program response to escalation of risk and crises situations. Ensure the program takes necessary action to mitigate risk to children and increase their overall safety and wellbeing
  • Provide role clarity to your direct reports and team, ensuring that performance expectations, development and accountabilities are clearly set and that progress is monitored and assured with provision of effective feedback
  • Build and maintain effective team relationships – within own team and with others
  • Actively engage and participate in the performance management framework and review processes across Uniting
  • Engage in professional development and set and fulfil development goals for yourself and your team

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or Social Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with families experiencing complex issues
  • Demonstrated experience working with families experiencing complex issues
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues with the capacity to identify risk levels and plan support interventions accordingly
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary services, developing and maintaining motivated, professional and effective work teams
  • Demonstrated experience working with cultural diversity, Aboriginal and Culturally diverse people and delivering and evaluating services in a culturally competent manner
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective partnerships to achieve desired outcomes
  • A Current Drivers licence
  • NSW Working with Children Check and satisfactory completions of a national police history check
