About the Role

We have a vacancy in our friendly collaborative team in Fairfield for a Child and Family Therapist to provide a range of therapeutic and group work services to individuals, children, couples and families, aimed at improving health and wellbeing and an increased capacity to manage and experience relationships positively.

Working in conjunction with other Unifam Staff( e.g. Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) in a multi-disciplinary approach you will provide family therapy sessions and interventions to clients within complex external systems.

This position is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

Your experience will tick the following boxes:

  • Eligibility for membership of relevant professional body (e.g. AASW, APS, PACFA)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work and Counselling.
  • Post Graduate qualifications and/or training in individual, couple or family therapy
  • Competence in working with issues of violence
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high conflict individuals, couples and families with complex issues.
  • Understanding of Child protection issues
  • Ability to work independently as well as be able to contribute to the functioning of a team 

Even Better: 

  • Three years experience in individual, couple and family therapy
  • Experience in working with children and adolescents
  • Prior experience in group facilitation
  • Experience and expertise in program promotion and liaison
  • Experience working within a Family Law context
  • Familiarity with the Family Law Act and other relevant legislation(e.g. Children and Young Persons(Care and Protection) Act).
