About the opportunity 

This role is responsible for the delivery of a range of evidence based, trauma informed, culturally competent and responsive services to prevent unnecessary entry of children and young people into Out of Home Care (OOHC) in South West Sydney (SWS).  

The role includes carrying a case load of five families, with an intensity level of up to three home visits a week per family including some weekends and unannounced visits, when helpful, and being part of a 24/7 on call support roster.

This position is based in Campbelltown, NSW and works across the local government areas of Campbelltown, Camden, Wingecarribee and Wollondilly.

This position is offered on a permanent full-time basis.

About You

  • Degree qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or a related Bachelors Degree with relevant casework and or clinical experience with at risk children and their families, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work
  • Willing to be trained in the Homebuilders® Model, Uniting Domestic Violence Practice Framework and other evidence based models as determined necessary.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and an ability to conduct risk and family assessments using strengths based approach.
  • Experience working with fathers and families experiencing domestic violence.
  • Experience in supporting Aboriginal families in providing culturally safe and sensitive interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required.
  • Medium level proficiency in MS Office (particularly Outlook, MS Word and Excel).
  • Flexibility and willingness to work out of hours and be on an on-call roster.
  • Current driver’s license and willingness to transport families in company vehicles. 

Even better:

  • Experience in working within a therapeutic casework model.
  • Fluency in a community language particularly and/or strong connections to diverse culture(s).
